Archbishop Theofan of Korea co-served with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on the sixteenth anniversary of the enthronement of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church

On February 1, 2025, the Russian Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrated the 16th anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’. Prayers were offered in all churches and monasteries for the Primate of the Church, elected at the Local Council of 2009 to the Moscow Patriarchal Throne.

On this significant day, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the enthronement vestments in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Among the host of archpastors of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Teofan of Korea, who is temporarily administering the Kyzyl Diocese co-served with His Holiness the Patriarch.

The liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (choirmaster I.B. Tolkachev) and the choir of the clergy of the Moscow Metropolitanate under the direction of priest Sergiy Golev.

The Soyuz and Spas TV channels, as well as the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church patriarchia.ru, broadcast the Patriarchal service live.

The litany included special petitions for Holy Rus’, as well as petitions for the now honored His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Russian Church, which he leads. Metropolitan Juvenaly read a prayer for the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church. His Holiness the Bishop offered a prayer for Holy Rus’.

At the end of the Liturgy, after the “Many Years”, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk read out a congratulatory address from members of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the 16th anniversary of his enthronement. Metropolitan Gregory presented His Holiness with an ancient icon of the supreme apostles Peter and Paul and a bouquet of white roses.

The Primate of the Russian Church addressed the participants of the solemn service with a Primate’s word.

Then the presentation of church awards took place to the Most Reverend Archpastors who celebrated memorable dates and especially worked for the good of the Holy Church.

In conclusion, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed the participants of the service: “Once again, dear bishops, fathers, brothers and sisters, I congratulate you all on the holiday. May the mercy of God touch each of us, and the Protection of the Most Pure Queen of Heaven remain over our Fatherland, over our Church and over our people. Amen.”

Then a reception was held on the occasion of the sixteenth anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.
