On May 28, 2026, with the blessing of His Eminence Theofan, Archbishop of Korea, Hieromonk Paul (Choi), a cleric of the Korean Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, participated in the Fifth Academic Readings in Memory of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary Lee Beom-jin, held at the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in St. Petersburg.

The event was organized by the St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, the educational organization “E&T Global,” and the regional public organization “Descendants of Fighters for Korean Independence.”

Hieromonk Paul participated in the conference online. In his address, he introduced the audience to the history of the Orthodox missionary school in Korea, presenting a report on “The Fate of the Russian Orthodox Missionary School in Korea ‘Bojeonghaggyo’ and Its Members.”

The report contained information about the educational activities of the Orthodox Spiritual Mission in Korea and its achievements. Particular attention was paid to the role of Orthodox schools in the education of the first Korean Orthodox clergy from among the faculty and students of these educational institutions.
